the snow is so bad!

Hey! Hannah here. I finally got here at 10:45 after about 20 attempts to get up my hill. My hill isn't some namsy pamsy hill, its a REAL hill and with Omaha's plowers my street still isn't plowed. So my neighbor had to literally tow me up the street and onto Skyline. But I'm here and sorry I'm late!!

Baby Card for My Sister

Hi, Veronica here! I just wanted to show off my recent little project. Now, I am not normally a card maker. But my sister is having her first child in July, so one day while I was playing with the Cricut machine -- I decided to make a handmade card for her. I used the baby head off the Doodlecharms cartridge and cut it out of think chipboard and then cut another head out of regular paper.

It came out so cute! But as I suspected, my sister (who has a masters in math and is an aerospace engineer, but has no creative bone in her body) didn't even say anything about the card until I asked her about it. Oh well! I had fun doing it and now showing it off to you! ~ Veronica Rosman

Life.....

I got this email and thought I would share it. Please pass it on to your friends and loved ones.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon, before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60's & 70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER!

ANY INTEREST IN KIDS SCRAPBOOKING CLUB?

Hi everyone, Veronica here! When Amy and I were in California for CHA, one of the big movements in scrapbooking is getting more kids into the hobby and offering scrapbooking classes and clubs for kids.

I love teaching kids how to do crafts, including scrapbooking and until recently I spent my Saturday mornings doing kids' crafts at a major chain craft store. But they aren't doing that anymore, so I wanted to know if anyone would be interested if I started a kids' monthly scrapbooking club at Precious Treasures.

I don't have all the details worked out in my mind or with Amy yet, but I figured that it would be targeted at kids ages 8 and above. We'd meet once a month on a Saturday morning and work on their scrapbooks while mom or dad shopped Amy's store or the rest of Nebraska Crossing Mall. But first, I need to know if there is any interest in something like this.

If you would be interested in having your child join something like this, please email me at Veronica@ptdiva.com. ~ Veronica

NO CROPS THIS WEEKEND

There will be no crops this weekend as I will be out of town. We will do extended crops the weekend of the 28th so watch for details. Have a great Valentines weekend!!

NEW STORE COMING TO NEBRASKA CROSSING!!!

I know you all have seen "The Rock Guy's" work somewere. He is the one who does rocks with about any design but the most common ones are the Husker rocks. Anyway he is moving in and will be open in a week. Even more good news, the Mishi bag lady from Oak View mall will also be moving in. I love these handbags and Veronica got me one for Christmas! (I love it) It is a purse and there are magnetic covers you can change to match your outfits. I know I will be shopping there!!

TATTOO'S ARE A FORM OF ART

Tattoo's are so in style anymore and there are more and more Tattoo shops opening all the time. They are a form of art you can carry with you all of the time. Many are tributes to lost loved ones, to children and many other life changing events. I love to hear stories of why people get a tattoo.

Last night we went to Big Brain in the Old Market and Tawnya got a beautiful tribute tattoo for her daughter Tarynn. It is hard to see in the photo but Tarynn's name is the part on the bottom left. (Done by Joshua) I just went in to get one fixed that I already had. Smitty the owner of Big Brain goes to church with Tawnya and is a really nice guy. It is a very clean place and voted "best of Omaha" for many years. If you decide to get one, go to a reputable shop, do not out names on your body other than children as you never know what life will bring. Nothing trendy, music groups, things that will pass in time. They are permanent and if you do want it removed it is very expensive and painful and takes many treatments. Also be careful where you have one placed on your body. Put it where it can be concealed when needed as you never know about companies you work for whether they will frown on it. And yes, they do hurt. You will forget about the pain though once you see the finished tattoo. Take pain killers 20 minutes before and when you are getting a tattoo get a focal point and keep breathing. If you get tense it will hurt worse. Whatever you do, do NOT move. LOL

When we were there last night there were a couple girls getting piercings in some very ...umm..weird spots. That I do NOT get. LOL OUCH! I will leave the piercings for just my ears.

NO MORE CRICUT CARTRIDGES????

Hi gals!
This is Ashley, Ive got a great class coming up! It is the Sure Cuts a lot class. If you have a cricut, and a computer this could be just what you were waiting for. I "heard" about this machine that can cut lettering about a year ago and without even looking into it, went out and bought myself the bug. To my dismay, I was only cutting one font, and I would need to buy another cart PER font to cut! My problem was I couldnt even muster 70$ (then) a cart just for one font I would burn myself out on it 2-6 pages max!
I used the cricut for a week maybe, ten it sat in dust for about a month until I stumbled upon SCAL (sure cuts alot)! Again with the understanding of what I did I bought it up for the price of a cart and never looked back. I spent the first week just downloading any font I would THINK I could use! Then the next week, when I realized I could cut dingbats (A character or image within a font), downloading dingbats. Needless to say the third week I found out I could cut anything I wanted with a couple other things and just spent y time learning and cutting and learning, and well cutting!
If you can find it on the net, you can cut it on the cricut. With this program. After going to crops everyone wanted to know more, I found my time at crops showing other ladies the great thing about this program. I figured I would see about teaching a class and showing people this wonderful progam. Amy offered me the room, the tools, and even the hosting capabilities.
Teaching the basics on the program, how to install font, where to find your fonts, how to cut dingbats and more! I have some more description on the calendar about the class, if your not sure about it, comming just to see would be a great idea too! I have a email Ashley@ptdiva.com amy hooked me up with! Just call her to sign up for this class!
Ive posted some pictures with things Ive done that I think might show you "some" of the many possibilities with this program. Everything I have posted is either a font or a dingbat, there are other things you can do to make your "own" cuts (which we can dabble in at the class). and well cutting! CRICUT VINYL CLASS by Veronica

Hi, Veronica here! When I was at CHA, I saw some amazing things that you can do with the Cricut machine and wall vinyl. So, yesterday, I borrowed a piece of Amy's wall and put up a cute Mickey Mouse with vinyl and cardstock. You can do this with most Cricut images, so your possiblities are nearly endless. I keep visioning Cinderella and the princesses for girls and dinosaurs for boys.
If you'd like to learn how to do this, I am teaching a vinyl class twice this month at Amy's store. The class costs $20, and you'll get a roll of Cricut vinyl (2 sheets of 12x24) and I will show you how to cut just about anything you'd like. Then we will cut the paper and adhere it to the vinyl so you can take it home and put it on the wall. We can do words as well.
The wall images are better when cut in big sizes, so they need to be cut on the Cricut Expressions. If you don't have one, you can still take the class -- The store has an Expressions machine in the crop room we can use. Bring your own cartridges, or you can select from the ones that the store has available for checkout.
Check the calendar at ptdiva.com for dates and times. Any questions, please email me at veronica@ptdiva.com
