GRAB THE TISSUES! A SCRAPBOOKERS POEM FOR HER DAUGHTERS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL SENT IN BY LEIGH ANN GOBBER

Dear World:

I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crispy dress...with two
blue eyes....and a happy laugh that ripples all day long..and a flash
of light brown hair that bounces in the sun when she runs. I trust
you'll treat her well.

She's slipping out of the backyard of my heart this morning...and
skipping off down the street to her first day of school. And never
again will she be completely mine. Prim and proud she'll wave her young
and independent hand this morning and say "Goodbye" and walk with little
lady steps to the schoolhouse.

Now she'll learn to stand in lines...and wait by the alphabet for her
name to be called. She'll learn to tune her ears for the sounds of
school-bells...and deadlines...and she'll learn to giggle..and
gossip...and look at the ceiling in a disinterested way when the little
boy 'cross the aisle sticks out his tongue at her. And now she'll learn
to be jealous. And now she'll learn how it is to feel hurt inside. And
now she'll learn how not to cry.

No longer will she have time to sit on the front porch on a summer day
and watch an ant scurry across the crack in the sidewalk. Nor will she
have time to pop out of bed with the dawn and kiss lilac blooms in the
morning dew. No, now she'll worry about those important things..like
grades and which dress to wear and whose best friends is whose. And the
magic of books and learning will replace the magic of her blocks and
dolls. And now she'll find new heroes.

For five full years now I've been her sTage and Santa Claus and pal and
playmate and mother and friend. Now she'll learn to share her worship
with her teachers which is only right. But no longer will I be the
smartest woman in the whole world. Today when that school bell rings
for the first time...she'll learn what it means to be a member of the
group with all its privileges and its disadvantages too.

She'll learn in time that proper young ladies do not laugh out loud...or
kiss dogs..or keep frogs in pickle jars in bedrooms..or even watch ants
scurry across cracks in sidewalks in the summer.

Today she'll learn for the first time that all who smile at her are not
her friends. And I'll stand on the front porch and watch her start out
on the long, lonely journey to becoming a woman.

So, world, I bequeath to you today one little girl...in a crispy
dress...with two blue eyes...and a flash of light brown hair that
bounces in the sunlight when she runs.

I trust you'll treat her well

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

It is so nice out and I have the doors to the shop open and it feels so good. It looks like it could rain but just the cool air and slight breeze is so refreshing.

I came to the store and imprinted albums all day and Tawnya and Veronica and her two little ones scrapbooked all day. I had to leave as I promised Ruth and Zach to take them to the new 3-D movie called "Fly me to the moon". It was really good! I recommend it for any age as it is rated G and educational also. After the movie Liz took the twins home to get ready for bed and Trev met me at Village Point and him and I went to see "Pineapple Express". It was pretty funny but you know I have a very warped sense of humor. hee hee :)

Scrapbookers In Training

Hi, Veronica here. When I came into the store this afternoon to pick up my crop stuff from last night (I only made it until 12:30 a.m.), I brought my two kids with me. Mackenzie is almost 8 and Bob is almost 6. They both have grown up watching me scrapbook and they both are starting to want to do their own, too.

But what is scrapbooking at Precious Treasures without a little glitz and glamour? Here are pictures of the two of them from this afternoon. ~ Veronica

Pictures of some pages I did......WE GOT HOME FROM CROP AT 4 AM!!!

We cropped until we dropped last night. (The medicines helped and I finally got hydrated) so off to crop I go. I got 11 pages done which I was thrilled with. The girls talked me into coming back today as I have imprinting to do anyway and they are are going to crop.

I loved creating with the Technique Tuesdays technique tiles. Stop in and look at their catalog for lots of ideas to use with them and we also have a lot of pages on display using them. If you are going to Scrap Pink on September 27th or the October 3-4-5th we will be doing a project with the Tiles.

The blue wave and the yellow sun are two technique tiles called fundamentals of snow from technique tuesday and the wave stamp is from them also. Just stamp it in the Adirondack pigment ink color stream and clear emboss over it, I put it over the It Takes Two seagull paper which looks like hand painted paper. We have it in vellum and in paper.
The green area and zig zag are also technique tiles. They ink so well! The papers are FooFaLa and Bazzill. I think after looking at it I am going to go back and add a ribbon about Ruthies photograph.

I try to have a girls night with the my girls at least once a week and Sephora is one of our favorite places to go. Paper is just strips of Bazzill and the glitter stickers are Reminisce. Letters are Accu Cut.

The twins first day of school. Liz got one of those "in style" short vests and we hunted as Ruth wanted one like her big sister. We finally found one at Justice and she looked adorable the first day. Zach likes Star wars and the Gap is full of Star Wars shirts.
